The main phases of a Bilan Carbone® project are the following:

  1. Sensitization seminars: meetings with main project decision-makers, constitution of a "Green Team", responsible for the day-to-day management of the project.

  2. Assessment: collection of the data necessary to establish a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and energy consumption profile.

  3. Baseline and vulnerability calculation: all necessary data having been collected, it becomes possible to establish the total quantity of yearly GHG emissions originating from the considered perimeter, as well as the vulnerability of the project structure, as regards the evolution of fossil fuel prices.

  4. Action plan: an action plan for the reduction of emissions and of energetic vulnerability is elaborated, and presented to the project owner. This action plan comprises the setting of reduction objectives for all principal emission sources on the short, medium and long term, as well as precise estimations regarding costs and returns on investment.

  5. Implementation: finally, the service provider (such as IES) can help the project owner to plan and execute, step by step, the action plan agreed upon.
